Seventeen-year-old John Jorenby works on Gunsmoke Farms, harvesting organic peas for Olsen Custom Farms, the largest U.S. contract harvester. Poor weather, combined with excessive tillage, led to dust storms and severe erosion. In 2023, the farm shifted to a mix of organic and conventional farming.
