بدأ العمل بمنارة “فاناد هيد” عام 1817، إذ تمّ بناؤها بعد عاصفةٍ مدمّرة عاثت خراباً بسفينة سالدانا الحربية، وتسبّبت بوفاة جميع أفراد طاقمها، باستثناء الببغاء. ومنذ ذلك الحين، تُرشد هذه المنارة البحّارة ليصلوا على نورها إلى برّ الأمان.
