Keeper Mateo smiles as Marimba, a ground pangolin, nestles into her safe place tucked under his chin. Her mother was poached for her scales. Pangolins are notoriously difficult to look after in captivity but Marimba was too young to fend for herself and so was she taken into the sanctuary.
