بعد ذوبان الجليد، يعود دبٌّ قطبي كبير إلى جيفة حوتٍ زعنفي بعد أن قضت عليه الدببة خلال فصل الصيف الماضي. فعلى اليابسة، حيث لا تستطيع الدببة صيد الفقمات، يكونُ الغذاء شحيحاً وتشكّل هذه الجيف الفرق الوحيد بين تضورها جوعاً وبقائها على قيد الحياة.
