Tundra Polygons
Polygons are a prominent permafrost feature across Alaska’s Arctic Coastal Plain. They are formed through years of freezing and thawing at the tundra’s surface. The small pools provide foraging areas for waterbirds and the ridges between them provide prime nesting areas for many species.
