Turfmarkt canal, Gouda
Turfmarkt canal runs through the lowest-lying part of the city. The water level in the canals is right below the edge of the embankment, during heavy rainfall the outdated sewer system overflows, the groundwater level is higher than the floors of the lowest-lying buildings.
