Sint-Jan church and historic Gouda
Two-thirds of Gouda’s buildings are more than a century old. To prevent one of the city’s most important monuments from sinking, the wooden piles under the chancel of Sint-Jan church were replaced by concrete ones. The tower was not given a new foundation, however, and is still sinking.
