AZZAZ, SYRIA. August 2023. A sea of tents at the Shamarekh IDP settlement in Azzaz, Northwest Syria. Many of the camp’s residents fled areas held by the former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad during the war, which began in 2011, that displaced over six million and left hundreds of thousands dead.
