The Smiling Angel of Reims Cathedral, France

The medieval statue of the angel sits on the main entrance of Reims cathedral and was carved in the early 13th century. Although badly damaged during the First World War, its remnants were saved as a guide to the restoration and it became a great inspiration to the whole nation.
