Sacred Geometry
Shoayb Khattab
The series presents a rare visual journey through the Holy City of Mecca, presenting the Kaaba in an almost unthinkable state of stillness. In a place where the sacred sanctuary is filled with pilgrims at nearly every moment of the year, the Kaaba here stands in near solitude, its form revealed in silence.
Created through extensive planning and rare permissions, the photographs reflect an artistic and contemplative approach to the most sacred sites in the world. They highlight the refined geometry of the Kaaba, the depth of its black Kiswa, its golden calligraphy, and the quiet force of its architecture.
Long exposures follow the movement of clouds and light, suggesting both time and eternity. Together, the photographs open a reflective encounter with Mecca, where silence and geometry preserve the holiness of the Kaaba in a vision both timeless and serene.
