Guardians of Time: Journeys Through Sacred Landscapes
Derry Brabbs
This exhibition traces a journey through places where landscape and faith, memory and movement intersect. From the abbeys, castles, and coastlines of Britain to the cathedrals and hill towns of France, Spain, and Italy, and onward to the dramatic escarpments of South Africa, these photographs explore how belief and belonging are inscribed in the land.
Pilgrim routes, river crossings, and defensive high ground emerge as waypoints in an ongoing dialogue between people and place. Light reveals stone shaped by weather, paths worn by footsteps, and vistas that continue to guide travellers today.
Rather than presenting a single national story, the work follows a wider arc, showing how sacred topography resonates across regions and cultures. The result is a visual map of resilience and reverence, where history remains present and the land continues to shape how we gather, remember, and move.
