La Desolata is one of the most poignant Holy Week processions in the Christian world, taking place in the village of Canosa di Puglia, Italy. Mourning Desolata women, parade through the streets chanting the “Stabat Mater”, a medieval hymn that reveres the sorrow of Desolate Mary for the loss of Her Child.
