Ms. Linh, a Hau Dong priestess in North Vietnam, performs a multi-hour ritual to connect with spirits. The ritual of the “Spiritual Mother” traces its origins to ancient times, when people raised their salutations to the sky for good weather, earth for plentiful harvests, and water to prevent floods.
