The Timkat Procession
Christian Ethiopian Orthodox priests parade for Timkat (Epiphany), heading toward Lalibela, a city inspired by Jerusalem and home to the famous rock-hewn churches. Along the way, they chant rhythmically, using senasel (sistrums) and mequamia (walking sticks), echoing the cadence of their devotion.
