Phyang Chedup Monastic Festival

Phyang Chedup Monastic Festival

A Buddhist monk in Ladakh, dressed as a Wrathful Protector, performs a solo Chham dance, which is an ancient ritual for the spiritual realms of the monastery and the guardians of the faith. Behind him stands a sacred Thankha, a four-story tapestry unveiled once every three years to mark the triumph of good over evil.
